Her udkom også hans første tegneseriealbum, 48 sider, i 1981.
Vinderen
1986-88 medvirkede Karsten Hansen desuden i Serieforlagets humorhæfte Lilla
Gorilla.
Karsten Hansen was
born in 1949. He graduated from the School of Applied Art
in Copenhagen and after that was employed for several years as a layout artist and studio
manager for the book publisher Winther.
His first comics album, 48 sider (48 pages), was published there in 1981.
In 1984 it was followed by the album Firsefars (Minced Eighties). Both
albums contain highly caricatured plots bristling with expressive gestures and body
language - used to relate biting satire and bitterly humourous points about the modern
consumer-and career society and the trends of the times.
The album Stille og roligt (Easy Does It) followed in 1987, published by
Serieforlaget. It was just as biting and bitter in satire and punchlines, but it was also
an indication that Karsten Hansen had found his own personal style, drawing inspiration
from French satirists like Bretecher and Wolinski.
This style was continued in Firsefars, which started as a daily strip in
the newspaper B.T. in mid-1989, and which appropriately changed title in
1990 to Halvfemserfars (Minced Nineties). As before, it was the dominant
trends that were always the object of attack by Karsten Hansens satirical pen. He
was kinder in the series Henne om hjørnet (Down by the Corner).
In 1987 the daily newspaper Ekstrabladet held a comics competition. The
winner was Claus Madsen with the clever strip Junior. Second place went
to the comic strip Henne om hjørnet, which related droll punchlines from
a cosy Danish pub setting. The main artist was Torben
Osted, with assistance from Henning Christensen and Karsten Hansen. Shortly after the
competition, both Junior and Henne om hjørnet found a
place on the newspapers comics page. Only the latter proved to be viable in the long
run, and it continued in the newspaper for three years.
From 1986-88 Karsten Hansen collaborated on Serieforlagets humour comic book Lilla
Gorilla (Purple Gorilla). Since 1992 he has been a contributor to the annual
Danish satire comic book Svikmøllen. In April, 1993 he was awarded the
Danish comics award Ping for
the year 1992. |
