"If you cannot make it to Cannes then make it to
Kalundborg
!"
In a co-operation
between The Old Cinema in Gørlev, Kino 1-2 in Kalundborg and Mørkøv Cinema
"Filmfestival 00 Filmdays in the Kalundborg Region" are taking place from
Thursday the 4th of May till Sunday the 7th of May, 2000.The event is a result of the co-operation
within the area of culture existing between the municipalities of Bjergsted, Gørlev,
Hvidebæk, Kalundborg and Tornved. Together they have supported the event with Dkr.
180.000,- (£ 25.350.-).
In addition to this, the
chairwoman of the cultural committee of the county of West Zealand, Ms. Annemette
Spaanhede will dispense the county film prize of Dkr. 50.000.- (£ 7.040.-) at the climax
of the festival in Kino 1 in Kalundborg on Sunday the 7th of May.
The winner will be appointed by
the jury consisting of the Danish film director Anders Refn, who is the chairman, the
Danish actress and singer Pernille Højmark and the Czech composer Ondrej Soukup. The
latter was one of the prize winners in 1997 when the prize went to Sverak's
"Kolya".
The prize is given to the
European film which implements music in the dramatic narrative in the best way.
The event three years ago yielded
a surplus which the local politicians all have agreed to save for this repetition with
additions. Furthermore there will be additions from foundations, local sponsors and
advertisers all helping to make possible an event of this kind.
The festival programme will be
published in April 2000 and will be distributed to all households within the five
municipalities.
The festival committee consists
of Peter Breinholt and Ole Ystrøm from the Gørlev Film Club, Birgitte Gelting, Kristin
Overland and Søren Juul from the Film Association of the Kalundborg Region (K.E.F.F.),
Edith Olsen and Jackie Jensen from the Friends of Mørkøv Cinema and Head of Culture Finn
Bjerregaard, Municipality of Gørlev, which also houses the secretariat.
Søren Juul,
Chairman.
